Hello and welcome to my profile! My name is Pippa and I am an experienced, qualified social worker and integrative counsellor. I run my own private practice, RiverWay Therapies, where I can see people for counselling, outdoor therapy, and also Theraplay. I am happy to see people face-to-face indoors, online, outdoors, or on the telephone, although Theraplay is indoors and in person. I have particular areas of expertise and experience, including with transgender identities, neurodivergence, and trauma. I also have a passion for the importance of nature connection and use the outdoors and walk and talk within my counselling practice. I previously worked over 15 years for Adoptionplus, a charity supporting adoptive and special guardianship families through therapy, advocacy, and social work. I was an adoption team manager, and became a therapeutic social worker and birth relative counsellor. I have an MA Applied Social Science with DipSW from Lancaster as well as a L4 Dip Therapeutic Counselling. Additionally, I have completed the Full PQSW Award. My CPD includes: Emotional Freedom Technique EFT - "Tapping" , BUSS Building Underdeveloped Sensorimotor Systems intro, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy Ls 1 and 2, Theraplay Ls 1 and 2 and Group Theraplay, Therapeutic Life Story Work, Internal Family Systems immersion and Trauma-Focussed CBT.
I previously volunteered for ECP Families First Bedford and Living Your Life Bedford, where I undertook counselling for adults who had experienced sexual abuse, trauma, and domestic abuse. I was also a volunteer for Forest School at a local school.
