Primarily employed by the NHS as a Senior Clinical Psychologist working with children, teenagers, young adults and their families in an oncology/haematology service. Since qualification as a clinical psychologist, I have previously worked in Adult Learning Disabilities and community Child and Adolescent Mental Health services.
2012 DClinPsy, University of Sheffield 2009 PGCert in Low-Intensity Therapy, University of York 2004 BA (Hons 2.1) Psychology, University of Sheffield
Certified Theraplay Practitioner 2017 Certified Supervisor and Trainer 2023 I have used Theraplay with birth, foster and adopt families. Theraplay® is integral to my work. I found it the ideal approach for strengthening and re-balancing parent-child relationships in the context of physical health conditions and medical trauma.
As a Clinical Psychologist, my therapeutic work generally involves Theraplay, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, mindfulness, solution-focused, Cognitive Analytic Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy approaches. I have attended Level 1 Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy training with Dan Hughes and integrate elements of this into my work as appropriate. Outside of work I love singing and am a very active member of a local gospel choir. I also love pottering about with something creative and being out in nature. I find regular yoga helpful for my mind and body!
