Kirsten has worked with youth in care, the refugee community, and youth and families who have adopted or have guardianship through DCFS. She has experience working with these communities on issues of trauma, grief, loss, displacement, identity, and other related issues. In addition to Theraplay, Kirsten has received additional training in Attachment, Regulation, and Competency (ARC), Trust Based Relational Interventions (TBRI), the Adult Attachment Interview (AAI), and adoption related mental health.
Kirsten earned her Master of Social Work with a mental health concentration, as well as a certificate in Integrated Behavioral Health with children and adolescents, from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Kirsten is a Certified Theraplay Practitioner, a Certified Theraplay Trainer, and a Theraplay Supervisor-in-Training. She has been practicing Theraplay since January 2020 and has been a therapist with The Theraplay Clinic since November 2020. Kirsten is also the Clinic Programming Specialist for TTC, which includes developing and running the clinic's programs such as Camp Theraplay.
Kirsten currently lives in Chicago and loves to play with her adorable 70 lb dog!
